Australia - The 2nd preferred spot for Indian students

A recent report by UNESCO on mobility of students reveals that Australia has outpaced the UK and stands as the second preferred destination country for Indian students to carryout their higher studies. With 25,562 number of Indian students, Australia now represented 11% of total Indian students pursuing higher studies abroad in 2015-16. While, the number of students going to study in the UK reduced by 4 per cent as compared to last year.


According to UNSECO’s 2017 rankings, the US continues to be the top choice for students who are looking to study abroad, while the UK has slipped to the third spot and Australia has come up in the rankings. With 19,604 Indian students, UK accounted for 8% of total international students of India in 2015-16.
